After using glasses for nearly 34 years I decided to have RLE Multifocal Toric lenses. Have done extensive research to choose a clinic (UK, Prague, Istanbul and Budapest). Decided to go for Praga Medica, it's not the cheapest but best reviews. Customer services and administrative work at Praga Medica is 5 stars, all thanks to Katerina (she is fantastic, professional, dedicated and ready to help with anything to make you comfortable)
Clinical team at Praga Medica
1- Pre-operation:
Very good team, take time and explain eyes tests and investigations very well. Extremely polite and professional.
2- Operation Day:
A- Nurses prior to the operation room: I found the nurses especially for my left eye are the least professional and less friendly than the rest at Praga Medica. They were in so much rush and all service is focused on fast fast fast pace rather than reassuring and be patient.
B- Operation room: Ophthalmologist (Surgen) and his team are absolutely fantastic. Very caring, understanding and super professional. Out in 10 minutes.
C- Post operation: Again same nurses from pre surgery. Unfriendly and they usher you out within a minute once you are outside the operation room. Shocking as not a smile nor how are you feeling. They give a small bottle of eye drops and an envelop. Not a single explanation of how to use the drops nor if you ok????!!!!! At the hotel you open you envelop to read all instructions. May be we are spoiled in the U.K. with our fantastic team of nurses how are very friendly but the above team no way near as friendly. PS Nurse team for my second eye (second appointment) were much better.
3- Postoperative care clinic visits:
Fantastic doctors and nurses, no complaints what so ever. Normally Praga Medica sign you a personal translator for all your visit at Praga Medica. Mine was Adam: he was around for the first visit (clinical tests) but didn't show up for any other appointments despite him promising to do so and taking picture of appointments schedules. It didn't bother me but I don't like it when people don't show up with any explanation or any apologies.
My eyes site so far is fantastic during the first week of post surgery. Do have a little of discomfort sometimes in both eyes but mostly disappears after using hydration drops. Halo effect is there but not too bad. Surgery cost nearly £4200 if you take into account surgery (£3400) and expenses (flights, hotel, taxis and eating out) depends on how much you spend on yourself.
