Dr Chen Chung Ming is the resident general surgeon. He previously served as the Director of Colorectal Service and Director of Endoscopy Centre at Changi General Hospital, and has received extensive and advanced training as a colorectal surgeon.

During his practice at CGH, he streamlined and refined the colorectal service in theDepartment of Surgery and developed laparoscopic colorectal surgery for benign and malignant colorectal diseases. Nobel Surgery Centre has also identified the prevention of colon cancer (the most common killer cancer in Singapore) as an important community mission and will implement programmes to support this.

Dr Chen Chung Ming

Consultant General Surgeon Colorectal Surgeon B.Med (Aust), FRCS (Edin), FAMS

Dr Chen Chung Ming is the Medical Director at Nobel Surgery Centre at Mount Alvernia Hospital, Gleneagles Medical Centre and 111 Somerset. Dr Chen subspecialises in Colorectal Cancer Surgery and believes that early detection of colon cancer saves lives.

Dr Chen graduated from the University of Newcastle, Australia in 1994. He then returned to Singapore to pursue a career in general surgery. He received his surgical training here and subsequently obtained his surgical fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1999 and successfully completed his Advanced Surgical Training in General Surgery in April 2004. He was then admitted as a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, in 2005. To further develop and advance his subspecialty skills in colorectal surgery, Dr Chen spent one year training in Sydney, Australia, in 2006, under the guidance of Professors Graham Newstead and David Lubowski, two world renowned colorectal surgeons. Following his advanced training in colorectal surgery, Dr Chen again returned to Singapore and continued his practice as a Consultant in Changi General Hospital. He streamlined and refined the colorectal service in the Department of Surgery and developed laparoscopic colorectal surgery for benign and malignant colorectal diseases. He was subsequently appointed as Director of Colorectal Service and Director of Endoscopy Centre. During his practice at Changi General Hospital, he was also conferred the Gold Service Award and Best Service Award in 2009. Dr Chen has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and has contributed a book chapter on colorectal surgery. Academically, he was appointed Senior Lecturer for Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He also serves as a committee member of the Society of Colorectal Surgeons (Singapore).
