Macroom Opticians

John Roche is the lab technician. He glazes prescription lenses to the patients’ chosen frames. Repair of frames and lenses are also within his brief. He closely follows the latest in lens technologies and designs and is happy to pass on his knowledge to our customers. He is currently studying a level 4 diploma with the Spectacle Makers college of London. John gained 14 years of previous business ownership in the construction industry before making the move into the world of optics.

Anna Roche FAOI qualified with an honours degree in Optometry in 2006. She gained experience working as an optometrist with Crowley’s Opticians in Cork before being offered a position of Stack & O’Briens in Macroom in 2007. After several years working there she purchased the practice from her employers and in February of 2012 reopened it as Macroom Opticians in a modern new unit in Fair Green Plaza. She really enjoys her work and has special interest in the areas of diabetic retinopathy, AMD (age related macular degeneration) and paediatric optometry. Anna is married to John and they have two young children. She works in the practice 4 days per week and enjoys spending her free time with her children.

Fionnuala Dineen has been working in the optical business since 1999. Having started with Stack & O’Briens in Macroom, she established Macroom Opticians with Anna and John. 

Her vast experience allows her to purchase quality frames and she understands well the needs of our customers. 

Gillian Coleman has been employed in optics in Macroom since 2004. She is very well experiened in dealing with our customers and as a fulltime wearer of glasses and contact lenses she understands well their needs. She is happy to help you make informed choices regarding your eyecare needs. She also looks after all the day to day finanical runnings of our business including payments and accounts. Gillian is married with 3 children and enjoys walking and reading.
