Every department is equipped with the most high-tech diagnostics equipment and has expert personnel who are specifically specialized in their unique field of ophthalmology and its interests. The clinics well-based connection with the Faculty of Medicine is the result of the long-term collaboration of Dr. Nikica Gabrić and Dr. Iva Dekaris with the Faculty of Rijeka and the Ruđer Bošković Institute at an educational level. With its rightly-earned status, the clinic continues to conduct scientific research and to educate young physicians in Croatia and the region as well. Svjetlost Clinic is in the process of launching a postgraduate studies and course program for ophthalmology in Croatia and the region, which aims to educate students in the most recent scientific and technological achievements in the field. The program will be organized in collaboration with well-known experts in ophthalmology with the objective of extending mutual cooperation and bringing world-class ophthalmology to our region. Svjetlost Clinic already has a wet-lab (laboratory for surgical specialization) which is used in the specialization of young colleagues with the purpose of achieving faster and better surgical expertise that is needed to ensure a quality approach towards every patient. Svjetlost Clinic is continually collaborating with the Ruđer Bošković Institute. Their mutual project called The Immunology of the Eye
has already made important steps towards the better understanding of the mechanisms of inflammation and corneal transplant rejection. By receiving the status of a special hospital, Svjetlost Clinic has not only completed its twelve year goal in achieving excellence in its field, but has also found further inspiration to continue to bring new and advanced technology and quality care to every patient.
