This is the General Practice of Dr Brendan O'Shea and Dr Seoighe Ni Rua, located within 0.5 km of Newbridge, directly across the road from Newbridge Train Station.
Services provided include Women's Health, STI Screening, Comprehensive Family Planning Services, Primary Investigation of Fertility difficulties, Prenatal and Antenatal Care, Paediatrics and Mens Health. Services also include a full range of GP Services, including both Childhood and Travel Immunisations (Registered for Yellow Fever Immunisation), Minor Surgical Procedures, IUCDs, Excision Skin Lesions, Surgical Treatment of Ingrowing Toenails), as well as 24 Hr Ambulatory Blood Pressure Measurement, Adolescent Sexual Health Counselling, Clinical Photography, ECG, Respiratory Functions and Audiometry (Hearing Tests) and Suturing.
Our service places emphasis on personalised care. It is important to us that you may be able to develop a long term relationship with those of us who work at The Bridge Medical Centre. We value friendly care, with an emphasis on evidence based, preventive medicine, and we actively assist in the promotion of healthy lifestyle, good eating and exercise habit, good stresshandling, responsible use of alcohol and smoking cessation. We have a special interest in Chronic Disease Management, particularly Diabetes, Hypertension, Hypothyroidism, Elevated Cholesterol, Gout, Backpain, Anxiety and Depression.
In addition to a full range of GP Services, the Practice also delivers a comprehensive Occupational Medicine Service to workers and employers locally. Dr Ni Rua has taken an MSc in Occupational Medicine, and Dr. O' Shea is on the Specialist Register for both General Practice and Occupational Medicine.
The Practice is actively involved with Medical Training, and is associated with The Undergraduate Medical Programme at Trinity College Medical School .Dr Ni Rua is on the Undergraduate Tutor Network, and Dr O' Shea Clinical Lecturer at at The Department of Public Health and Primary Care at Trinity College Dublin, where he is also engaged in research into Childhood Overweight.
All of us who work at The Bridge Medical Centre are Parents; our own children range in age from 1 year up to rather fully grown adults, and we have a collective interest in the challenges of parenting, and the issues encountered by our younger patients.
The Practice is also formally involved with Palliative Care, and both Dr Ni Rua and Dr O' Shea visit at St Brigids Hopsice at The Drogheda Memorial Hospital (The Jockey Hospital) on The Curragh.
The Practice is a member at K Doc, Kildare West Wicklow Doctors on Call, whereby Out of Hours Cover is provided for Patients of the Practice. Both Dr Ni Rua and Dr O' Shea participate on the K Doc Out of Hours Rota, and Dr O' Shea is currently Medical Director at K Doc.
