He graduated from Glasgow University with a Bachelor in Dental Surgery in 1995 and the final year prize in Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology. From 1996 until 2000 Mr Bruce worked and trained in the hospital based dental speciality of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His resident postings were in the South West of England in both civilian and mixed civilian/armed force units where as part of a multidisciplinary team he treated everything from wisdom teeth removal and broken facial bones to advanced trauma and cancer cases.
