A Restoration, more commonly known as a filling, is the replacement of decayed or damaged tooth structure. Many materials can be used for this, however we use a tooth colored material called composite, which is a strong resin material. A composite filling or restoration can last several years if looked after correctly. It is important to keep up with regular dental health examinations and have a thorough oral hygiene regime so that we are able to make sure that no further decay can form around the restoration.
Tooth coloured restorations £120 - £395
The treatment usually takes place within a single appointment; the tooth structure will be prepared. This will involve removing any decayed or damaged part of the tooth. You will be given some local anesthetic to ensure that you are comfortable during the procedure. We will then prepare the tooth further with a special gel material and bonding agents. We will then discus with you which shade is most suitable. The composite is then built up in many layers and cured or set using a strong light. Once the tooth structure has been completed we will then polish and smooth the whole tooth. You will not notice where your tooth finishes and where the composite begins!

A Crown is an artificial restoration that fits over the whole structure of a prepared tooth and is sometimes known as a cap. A crown is strong and resembles the shape of a natural tooth it is crafted by a technician and can be made out of Porcelain, ceramic or gold. A crown is suitable for any tooth that has been damaged or weakened by decay. It is also suitable to have a crown when the tooth has had a previous root canal treatment and provides extra support of the structure to the remaining tooth. Crowns are also used to improve the appearance of the tooth and your smile.

I first went to Zina at friar street dental practice about 15 months ago, after a bad experience with another dentist. I have been several times since she has always made me feel at ease.
