Titanium Implant: Had a crown fitted nearly 20 years ago. In 2017, it fell out and I went to a dentist in my vicinity to have it fitted. The procedure was done and within 18 to 24 months, it fell out again. Went back to him and he informed me that there was an infection and I would have to either have a bridge done or have an implant. At this point, I decided to get a second opinion as I was rather concerned about his competency.
Searched online and came across Drs Demajo Dental and implantology clinics. Having done some preliminary research into their history and qualifications particularly as it relates to implants, I thought I'd schedule an appointment.
The initial consultation was straight to the point and the procedure thoroughly. The premises are very well maintained and my first impressions were that the staff seem highly professional.
Once the consultation was over, I was informed of the cost which I thought was rather high but apparently conforms to industry standards and keeps them competitive, so I decided to go for the procedure.
The whole process took about four months, from extracting the tooth, implanting the titanium and leaving the gum to heal. I had to go every four weeks to assess the state and health of the treatment and in my case, everything went smoothly. By the fourth month, all I had to do was choose whether I wanted to have the ceramic (zirconium) implant or titanium implant (I believe it's a mixed precious metal, can't recall for certain). I chose the titanium due to it having been used for over 40 years, extremely durable and they have a success rate of over 98% a decade after surgery, with many patients having titanium implants for over 25 years with no complications. The ceramic implant is a more recent technology but not as durable. This option would be most useful for those who are sensitive to metals or experience some sort of allergic reaction.
Also, it more aesthetically pleasing than the titanium but the difference in appearance isn't drastic and in my case, the location of the implant is towards the back, so I wasn't too fussed about it.
Overall, I'd recommend incurring the cost for this sort of procedure especially if it's in the hands of highly trained and capable professionals such as those at Dr Demajo dental and implantology clinic. Also, they'll schedule follow up appointment to monitor your progress and there's also a guarantee for the implants, which is reassuring. Hope this helps.
