What are Veneers?

Veneers are thin shells, also called dental laminates, that are used to cover unsightly teeth and give patients attractive smiles. They are easy to place and can quickly improve the smile of patients with dental cracks and stains, and for patients who have gaps between their teeth.

What is the difference between Veneers and Dental Crowns?

Veneers cover only the front portion of teeth. Crowns cover or replace the entire tooth. Crowns are therefore thicker than veneers. A major portion of the tooth needs to be reduced before placing a crown while only a small portion of the tooth needs to be reduced before placing a veneer. A crown is used for covering damaged teeth and is also placed over a dental implant. A veneer is only used for cosmetic purposes.

What are the best types of Veneers?

The best type of veneer depends on the needs of each individual patient. Some veneers can be easily placed without much tooth preparation. Some veneers are suitable for severely damaged teeth. Some veneers can be easily made in the clinic and patients do not have to wait long for their placement. Some veneers are cheaper than others and are suitable for patients looking for a low cost option.  Your dentist should discuss the options with you so you can make the best choice.

How long before you can eat after getting Veneers?

Dentists recommend that patients eat only soft foods after veneers are placed, and for the first few days, until they get used to them. Veneers are normally bonded firmly to teeth and patients can eat any type of food.

What are Veneers made from?

Veneers are made from ceramic, composite resins or zirconium.

I feel so happy and confident with my new smileAoife, Ireland, 02 12 20

A huge thank you to Shane and his Team for giving me the most amazing treatment I have ever experienced in a dental clinic. I broke my tooth in 2018 and I went to four different dentists before I was recommended, Shane. I was so nervous and worried about the implant treatment that I wanted to make sure that I was going to get the perfect smile. It was a couple a months after I had gone to Shanes clinic and I was beyond comfortable with the treatment plan he had suggested to me. Shane explained to me on my first appointment that my treatment will take a year and that he would rather make sure I heal correctly than rushing to get it done. Once I heard that I knew I could trust Shane with my treatment. I loved that he took the time before every appointment and explained to me step by step, in a way that I could understand what he was going to do that day. As I was also mid-way through my INVISALIGN treatment. Shane corresponded with my orthodontics throughout my treatment. He made it so easy for me when it came to me finishing off my braces. I cannot recommend Shane and his team enough. I have my family now going to him too. I have no fears or worries about anyone noticing my implant, I feel so happy and confident with my new smile. A HUGE thank you again.
