Changing people's lives is amazing! Hearing our patients tell us that we have helped them have a healthy smile that they use with confidence every day is gratifying. As a certified orthodontist and son of a certified orthodontist with over 40 years of experience, I try to remember that each of our patients' needs and desires are unique. It is my goal to treat each and every patient like they are a member of my own family. My dental education was received at the University of Western Ontario School of Dentistry, where I graduated from in 1993. I attended McGill University Multi-Disciplinary Residency Program before continuing on to the St. Louis University's Graduate Orthodontic Program in 1997. I not only continually strive to take continuing education courses to stay current in all areas of dentistry focusing on orthodontics but I also provide the dental community with continuing education courses on customer service and preventative orthodontics in an attempt to provide our mutual patients with the best treatments and service we possibly can. Dr. Eckler and Family My wife, Sharon, and I dated in high school, and 16 years later we found each other again. Our daughters are most precious and, like the parents of our younger patients, we'd do anything for them! They have held the annual "Jaime and Alexandra's Lemonade Stand" fundraiser for the homeless since 2009. We also have a dog, Hank who was rescued at the Humane Society and has become a very important part of our family. Dedicating time to my children and family is paramount and working with my father, Gord, continues to be a fantastic experience. Believe it or not, I've ran two marathons, am a certified downhill ski instructor, have taken up hockey again after a 34 year hiatus and I have conquered Mount Kilimanjaro!

Nothing compares to seeing someone's delight as they look into the mirror for the very first time after their braces have been removed. It is very rewarding to help our patients achieve this and, in many cases, to watch their confidence blossom. I have been a certified orthodontist for over 40 years and I have always made sure to provide orthodontic treatment for my patients like I would for my own children. Together with my son, Mark and our partner, Shane, we are proud of the treatment and services we consistently provide for our patients.I value education and was fortunate to receive the knowledge and specialized training my patients can feel confident in. As the first in my family to attend University, I graduated from the University of Toronto with my dental degree in 1966 and later earned my Master of Science in Orthodontics at Northwestern University in 1969. With hard work and a beautiful smile, you too can achieve your dreams!Continuing education allows me to be progressive and utilize knowledge to stay current and up-to-date. I have always strived to stay on top of new procedures and technology in order to offer my patients the very best care I can. I am also active in numerous professional organizations including the Ontario Association of Orthodontists, the Ontario Dental Association, and the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity. My wonderful wife of 45 years, Marsha and I have raised two wonderful children Mark and Dawn, who now have families of their own and have given us four beautiful grandchildren, Jaime, Alexandra, Avi, and Max. When I'm not in the office or spending time with my family, you can find me on the golf course, cycling, hiking, boating or skiing.

I am privileged to work in such a rewarding profession where I can help people not only improve their smile, but their self-esteem and confidence as well. It is extremely rewarding to go to work every day and be a part of so many peoples' lives. It is a treat for me to help so many wonderful and interesting people. I attended the University of Toronto for dental school, graduating in 1998 and completed my Residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Centre. I then continued on to Boston University's Graduate Orthodontic Program, graduating in 2001. My constant pursuit of education allows me to stay progressive in orthodontic technology. I am a member of the Ontario Association of Orthodontists and I participate in the Toronto Orthodontic Study Club. One in three of our patients are adults so I have a keen interest in providing aesthetic options and regularly attend Invisalign training throughout the year. Hockey My community is extremely important to me. Our office is continually raising funds for the Hospital for Sick Children through the Drs. Eckler and Black Fund which we set up in part because Mark had life-saving heart surgery at this hospital. I married my high school sweetheart, Dr. Riva Black, who also graduated dental school with me and is now a Certified Oral Pathologist. We have four wonderful children who I love spending time with. I also enjoy the outdoors, playing hockey, golfing, skiing and sailing.
