Dr n. med. Maciej Garbien graduated from Faculty of Medicine at Wroclaw's Medical Academy. He specialises in vascular surgery using world's most innovative method of EVLT (endovenous laser treatment). To date, he has performed around 4000 EVLT procedures. He also performs Doppler Ultrasound of lower limbs. Dr Garbien's expertise includes a wide spectrum of surgeries, such as hernia with laparoscopic, TAPP and TEP methods, or Lichteinstein Repair using the most up-to-date mesh, produced by BARD.
Dr Garbien gained his experience during his training in Brussels, under the eye of a worldwide known hernia specialist, surgeon Tim Tollens. Dr Garbien's work experience includes a London-based clinic, MyMedyk. From 2014, he worked in Prywatna Poliklinika 'Na Grobli' where he was Head of Surgery and performed vascular and hernia surgeries daily.
Between 2010 and 2017, Dr Garbien worked as a Phlebologist in DCM Dolmed SA, based in Wroclaw, Poland. He achieved his Level 2 Specialisation in General Surgery back in 2009, and since 2008, he worked as a Senior Assistant in Wojewódzki Szpital Specjalistyczny in Wroclaw, on the Surgery Ward. Between 2004-2008, he was employed as a Senior Assistant in Szpital Kolejowy in Wroclaw, on General and Oncological Surgery Ward, while between 2000 and 2004, he worked in Klinika Chirurgii Przewodu Pokarmowego (Gastroenterology Clinic) in Wroclaw, under the supervision by Prof. Lewandowski. Dr Garbien started his career as an apprentice at the Railway Hospital in Wroclaw, on General and Oncological Surgery Ward in 1998, after graduating from Wroclaw's Medical Academy. He completed his Apprenticeship under the guidance of Dr Durek, and achieved his Level 1 Specialisation in General Surgery two years later, in 2000.
During his career, Dr Garbien received many distinctions, such as 'Friendly Doctor' Certificate, based on patients' reviews on a popular and reliable Polish portal ZnanyLekarz.pl (trans: a well-known doctor). He also entered the Dolnoslaski Hipokrates 2017 competition (Lower Silesia's Hippocrates), winning first prize as the Surgeon of the Year.
