Trained as anesthesiologist in Leiden. If anesthesiologist in training visited Van Seventer doctor the first World Congress on Pain in Florence (1975). At the time, pain treatment is still in its infancy. Pain was seen as a symptom, something like a fever. It was therefore quite special that opened a pain clinic in Leiden. Perhaps the first in the Netherlands. Rob co-founded the Dutch Association for the Study of Pain in 1976 and was 10 years secretary / treasurer. The association is now called Dutch Pain Society. Nowadays Van Seventer is committed to professionally especially for innovative pain through less invasive techniques, where the patient little or no injury to adhere to treatment. Studied Medicine at the University of Leiden. He then worked for several years in the United States, where he has been involved in setting up a plastic surgical research laboratory.
