Studied medicine at the Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms University in Bonn, in the USA (Baylor College of Medicine, Houston / Texas and Grossman Hospital, San Diego / California) and Switzerland (Ospedale Civico, Lugano).

Specialist training initially in cardiac surgery at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, Klinikum Grosshadern (resp. Prof. B. Reichart), then in Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery of St. Agatha Hospital in Cologne (cond. Dr. S. Eren) and in St. John's Hospital in Bonn (resp. Dr. A. Safi).

Specialist in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery 2005, additional qualification in hand surgery of 2007.
