Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Tartu in 1979 and continued his studies from 1982 to 1986 while undergoing heart surgery, post-graduate and doctoral studies under the guidance of Dr. sullins. In 1986 defended his doctoral thesis "acute myocardial infarction coronary artery bypass graft-stage" and in 1987 he was awarded the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences - PhD. Dr. Meren külaliskirurgina has worked in Switzerland, Zurich University of cardiac and vascular surgery clinic in cardiac surgery team from 1988-1989 and 1993-1994, and in 2008 the first modern Estonian sõjakirurgina Camp Bastion in Afghanistan, the highest stage of the hospital.
