Facelift
The facelift is a surgical procedure that involves making a stretch or "lifting" of the middle and lower thirds of the face, lifting flabby soft tissues and fallen (skin, fat, SMAS, muscles) and taking them to a higher position, further decreasing the stiffness or wrinkling.
It is indicated in patients by genetic predisposition, familial, racial, by sun exposure or age, they have changes in their appearance that makes them look older, with sagging and drooping of the tissues of the face, besides accentuating wrinkles and furrows. There is no age to realize it and may be even from forty onwards.
Facelift can be performed through different techniques, in which incisions are made in front of and behind the er, or just ahead, including endoscopic, releasing tissue as needed, fractionating and lifting the fallen dotted fabrics fixation, and excising excess skin while improving partially wrinkles and furrows. Usually it combined with neck surgery, eyelids and/or forehead.
This procedure takes about three to five hours, depending on the technique.
Anesthesia
It is performed under general anesthesia in most cases, and sometimes controlled locally. It is an outpatient procedure in most cases unless there before or after patient conditions warranting hospitalization.
