About Facial Artistry

Facial Artistry Cosmetic Skin & Vein Clinic is the premier provider of cosmetic surgery and leg vein treatment services in Canberra. Our directors Drs Bernard & Jennifer Leung aim to bring natural beauty by combining artistic judgment with the latest innovative techniques and technology. We specialise in using minimally invasive methods for facial cosmetic treatments and body sculpting, to achieve natural looking results with minimal down time. We offer a wide range of non-surgical and surgical treatments for the face and body, as well as laser and light based treatments. We provide the full spectrum of assesment and treatment options for varicose veins and spider veins.

At Facial Artistry, we pride ourselves on offering only the most effective technologies, which are proven by publications in peer-reviewed journals. In relation to liposuction and body sculpting procedures, Dr Bernard Leung now uses VASER technology, to give results superior to what is achievable with conventional liposuction and other techniques. By using VASER technology, Dr Leung has been delivering excellent results to patients from all over Australia. Using an internal ultrasound probe to emulsify fat tissues, this technique has revolutionised liposuction, by minimising discomfort and downtime associated with traditional liposuction.

For Facial treatments, Dr Bernard Leung recognises the pivotal role that volume loss plays in facial aging, and he specialises in liquid facelift techniques that specifically address this problem.

At Facial Artistry, Dr Jennifer Leung specialises in assessment of the venous anatomy and minimally invasive treatments for venous disease. An assessment of the overall health of the venous system is carried out at the initial consultation. This is as important as the treatment itself. The clinical examination may be assisted by using venous ultrasound Doppler. Duplex ultrasound scanning is usually carried out. This allows a detailed map of your venous anatomy to be understood. The presence and severity of underlying venous reflux can be determined using this detailed ultrasound assessment tool. A management plan can then be formulated based on the site and severity of the underlying venous reflux.

Dr Jennifer Leung chooses from the following treatments depending the type of venous problems identified by the assessment process. Endovenous laser ablation (EVLA), ultrasound guided sclerotherapy (UGS) and direct vision sclerotherapy.

We also offer a full range of laser treatments targeting uneven pigmentation, facial redness, acne, rosacea, fine lines, and hair removal.

The information I was given was excellent, the treatment was top notch

1.5 50 Dermal Fillers, Treatment for Wrinkles

Fillers and Treatment for wrinkles repeat treatment, I love it.

The nurse was pleasant and obviously likes her job and employers. The information I was given was excellent, the treatment was top notch - a really good job on anti-wrinkle treatment. The doctor displayed poor customer service and made me change my mind to have additional treatments with them.

Staff were always helpful

2 50 Dermal Fillers • Paid: $2000

Booked consultation and discussed treatment needs for dermal fillers in the face to augment the jawline. The treating Dr advised from the outset that he only treats patients to the point where they look natural, which I do appreciate. He said one treatment should be all that's needed to meet expectations and I agreed to proceed on this basis.

Going ahead with this, he also agreed to take before and after photos, however with the before photo being one month prior, not fully allowing for a fully like for like comparison when the after was taken. The results from the treatment were barely discernible (in my opinion) and not what you I would expect from a $2000 round of dermal fillers, with no photo difference (to my best observation) visible apart from site inflammation.

Neither was a breakdown of costs provided upfront, with the amount of fillers used for that session discretionary on the Dr's judgement. Upon looking at the before and after, he also realised there were other facial deficiencies he could correct but had not raised in the initial consult.

While the treating doctors said its the customers choice as to how far they want to go, he does seem to advocate for a series of many incremental treatments to achieve the effect of what could have been done in one (again in reasonable personal belief and through asking for a second opinion). From my perspective, this may not the most value-friendly to customers.

This is not to bring into question the quality of treatment, just the value for money and the management of expectations.

Staff were always helpful apart from the aforementioned serious pricing transparency issue. Location convenient.

I am convinced it was worth it

5 50 Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers were placed near my orbital rim and upper cheeks. Very satisfied. The aim was to improve a tear trough deformity. Despite having a less than ideal treatment outcome from the work of another injecting clinic nearby they were able to improve my appearance substantially. The price I paid was higher than I was quoted elsewhere (I visited 4 different clinics beforehand) yet I am convinced it was worth it. You get what you pay for.

Dr Bernard Leung is a talented professional. The clinic is appropriately named, he really is an artist. What I particularly liked about this clinic compared to others is that he customises treatment after analysing your facial structure and does not merely recommend a 'cookie cutter' treatment. He is a doctor and not a salesman. It is for this reason he doesn't charge patients per unit of volume (I will admit I was not comfortable with this pricing structure at first but it is there for a reason behind it). Dr Leung will give you all the facts and will not hide any details of a procedure from you.
I no longer live in Canberra but will travel interstate in the future to receive his services.

Dr Bernard Leung

Job Title:
Aesthetic Medicine, Cosmetic Laser Procedures, Non-Surgical Facial Aesthetics, Cosmetic Medicine, Cosmetic Surgery

Dr Bernard Leung is the director of Facial Artistry Skin and Cosmetic Clinic. He qualified in the UK in 1989. After migrating to Australia, he obtained his fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioner in 1993. During this time, he developed an interest in dermatology, skin cancer medicine and treatment for sun damaged skin. He retrained as a cosmetic surgeon in 2003.

Dr Leung has a lifelong interest in the visual arts. He inherited his artistic sensibilities from his father Stuart, who is a well known and internationally exhibited Chinese artist. When it came to choose what course to do at university, Dr Leung chose medicine over fine art. However, he maintained his artistic interest by indulging in drawing and photography in his spare time. It is precisely this artistic background that allows him to exercise fine judgement in his assessment and treatment that in turn achieves a natural looking and aesthetic result.

His keen sense of aesthetic is backed up by solid technical skills, honed by tutelage from some of the foremost experts in the world. He is a full member of the Cosmetic Physician Society of Australia, a Fellow of the Australasian College of Aesthetic Medicine, a member of the Skin Cancer College of Australasia, and a member of the International Academy of Body Contouring and Laser Lipolysis. He has a Diploma of Practical Dermatology from the University of Cardiff, UK. He is a certified VASER cosmetic surgeon by the European College of Aesthetic Medicine.
