I chose Monterrey Gastro for their location, price and positive reviews. They gave me a good deal for my gastric sleeve. One month prior to the appointment, they told me the price and I paid exactly what was quoted. Everything went fine, and I didn’t go back afterwards. We just had a few telephonic check-ups.

The clinic was clean and the staff is professional. I really appreciated the doctor’s concern - he met us at the hospital and walked me through to the surgery room, where he stayed for the duration of the procedure. It’s not often you find doctors as caring as this. He was excellent and I’d definitely give them a 5/5.

I had a revision from lap band to mini gastric bypass at this clinic. I went with them because out of all the clinics I’d contacted, they had the best communication. In fact, I had the opportunity to speak to the doctor personally before I’d even scheduled the appointment. The treatment was good value - they did a wonderful job!

The staff were very professional, while the clinic was nice and clean. I did end up paying more than the price I saw online, because of the revision. I only stayed in Mexico for one week and didn’t do any follow-ups. I would recommend anyone to use this doctor - he was very professional and knowledgeable. It was the best surgery I’ve ever had.

I had the mini gastric bypass with Dr. Barrarea on August 16th, 2017 in Monterrey Mx. It was a revision from the lap band I had had for 9 years. I was very pleased with the courteous medical staff the nurses and the Anstheoligist. The hospital was very nice, better than what I have in my home town in Georgia. The treatment I received was wonderful I couldn't have asked for a better hospital stay or hotel stay!

Now about my Doctor. He was the most helpful, kind, intelligent, friendly, professional Doctor I ever had the pleasure of meeting. Dr. Barrarea performed an awesome surgery! He even sent me home with the DVD of the laparoscopic surgery he did so I would have it in case I needed to show any of my doctors in the states. His level of care I have never had before here in Georgia. I couldn't say anything but great things about my experience from the driver to the coordinator and the mg-bg office staff. Everyone was amazing. It was the smoothest surgery I have ever had. I was shocked by being able to leave the hospital after one night stay because I just wasn't hurting. This doctor is a Gem and I just can't say or thank him and his staff enough for this wonderful opportunity to work with them! I am 2 weeks post op and down 20 pounds. I feel great and I am so thankful.

I had the gastric sleeve done by Dr. Barrera. The treatment and experience was first class.

Monterrey is a big city, so the drive from the airport was diverse. The hotel as well as the hospital was very comfortable. The language barrier was somewhat of a problem, but not that big. I don't regret anything. Everyone was great.

I read so many horror stories of people vomiting and feeling nauseating from the gastric balloon but I did not encounter any of those symptoms. I had the balloon inserted October 21st Friday and today is Tuesday 25th October and I did not vomit or have any major discomfort. I was 152llbs before the balloon as of today’s date I am 147llbs. Really really Happy.

Before the balloon was placed the Doctors were all making jokes with me so I was at ease. And they eased my concerns and nervousness from going to have this procedure by myself in Monterrey. Now that I am backed in the USA I could not imagine doing this anywhere else. Most importantly the doctor and the staff answered every single question did not rush me even explained the paperwork I was signing. Plus Dr. Barrera gave me his cell so I can contact him if I have any problems. Awesome

I had the vertical sleeve done to lose weight and get my co-morbidities under control. I have high blood pressure, dangerously high cholesterol, and peptide hormone resistant diabetes and ALL my numbers have improved since having had the procedure. I could not get the VSG done in the United States because my BMI didn't meet the standard requirements. Also, because of these BMI requirements my health insurance would not pay for it no matter how sick I was. I would recommend this treatment for anyone in my position, or to someone who just wanted to get rid of their unhealthy weight. The price is super reasonable.

I had the best experience with MG/BG. Nydia, one of the coordinators, took care of all the arrangements, I just had to get to Monterrey. I really liked the fact that my procedure would be done in a hospital instead of a clinic, especially since I had never had surgery before and didn't know how I would do under anesthesia. The hospital was beautiful, and so clean. The nutritionist and internist were very nice and professional. The best of all was my surgeon Dr.Francisco Barrera. He was so knowledgeable and kind. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone thinking about having any kind of bariatric procedure.
