Specialist qualification in November 1999. Then research associate in the Department of Surgery Transplant Hippocratic Hospital. Thessaloniki and Curator (Registrar) in Section transplants Hospital Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester, UK. Since September 2000 I work as a surgeon at the Medical Center of Thessaloniki Balkan. In February 2003, for a period of two months training in Surgical Oncology and intrarectal and laparoscopic ultrasound and staging and treatment of tumors of the digestive Section of Surgical Oncology Robert Roessle Klinik, Berlin, Germany. In June 2003 was accepted by the University of Doctoral Thesis: "The effect of the immunosuppressant mofetil in bowel anastomoses" and in October 2003 he received a doctorate of AUTH. The last 10 years I deal exclusively with obesity surgery at the Medical Center of Thessaloniki Balkan facts about No. 1970 (December 2013) and scientific participation in global and pan-European conferences in the last eight years. After 10 years' experience, the interventions made by our team to treat morbid obesity and metabolic diseases are gastric banding and gastric bypass anastomosis one. The gastric banding surgery is the safest and sometimes combined with other procedures such as cholecystectomy, umbilical hernia, hiatal hernia, inguinal hernia, ovarian cyst and abdominoplasty, depending on the patient's symptoms. In the process it was found that 7-8 years after surgery, a percentage of patients in the order of 20-25% fails to lose the desired weight or regains important part of weight lost or has problems such as severe regression problems requiring removal ring. Usually it is for patients who are not consistent in the postoperative follow-up, consume many sweets remain sedentary and also have other problems that make it difficult to lose weight with the ring. Such problems are pronounced gastroesophageal reflux disease, the presence of metabolic syndrome, central obesity, eating habits like snacking and very high BMI. Based on this experience and always taking into consideration the profile of each patient, gastric bypass anastomosis offered as an alternative or as an initial procedure (to those set out above have many chances to experience failure in weight loss) surgery or as a second step after the failure of the ring or even after failure of surgery
