• Dr Michael Hatzifotis is a General Surgeon with specialty training in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary surgery and Bariatric surgery. Dr Hatzifotis is currently working at the Princess Alexandra Hospital as the Director of the Acute Surgical Unit, and Deputy Director of Trauma Services, and is a Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland. He also works at Greenslopes Private Hospital and Mater Private Hospital Redlands.
• he gained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2008. Following this, he completed three further years of specialist training in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary and Bariatric Surgery, at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in 2008, St Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne, in 2009, and the Princess Alexandra Hospital in 2010.
• Michael has several publications in this field of Bariatric Surgery (Weight Loss Surgery) and is trained in the full spectrum of surgical Weight Loss Procedures. Michael is very happy to provide consultation and counselling and a comprehensive surgical service in this regard. He performs Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding, Sleeve Gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, and revisional Weight Loss Surgery. Michael is very passionate about his work, and prides himself on offering his patients the highest possible standard of care.
• He has a keen interest in all aspects of general surgery, and is very happy to provide a comprehensive general surgical service. He performs a broad spectrum of laparoscopic procedures, including hernia repair, cholecystectomy and common bile duct exploration, splenectomy, laparoscopic fundoplication and hiatus hernia repair, gastric resections, adrenalectomy, and colonic resections. He also performs laparoscopic pancreatic and liver resections.
