Jan Davis has a particular interest in fertility, having undertaken specialist training in this area. Jan is a founder member of Zita West National Network for Reproductive Health as an affiliated acupuncturist. This involves regular training and ongoing support from the Zita West Clinic in London, the largest integrated (medical and complimentary) practice in the U.K. specialising in all aspects of male and female reproductive health.

Electroacupuncture is where electrodes are attached to a specialist electroacupuncture machine (similar to a TENS machine) to gently stimulate the needles.  It is a painless procedure and we find it effective in the treatment of pain and some research shows that it may help women with poly-cystic ovaries to ovulate.

TechniquesAs well as needling acupuncture points, a traditional acupuncturist may use other Chinese medicine techniques such as:•moxibustion: heat is applied to an acupuncture point or meridian using moxa (a therapeutic herb) and/or heat lamps to warm and relax muscles and qi•tuina: Chinese therapeutic massage relieves muscle tension, stimulates acupressure points, opens energy meridians and stimulate the flow of qi•cupping: glass cups with a vacuum seal are placed on the skin to stimulate blood flow and clear stagnant qi•guasha: vigorous rubbing of the skin increases blood flow and clears stagnant qi.
