About Biodynamic Psychotherapy and Massage with Jay Kelly Licensed Biodynamic Psychotherapist MGBII

Biodynamic Therapies

Biodynamic Therapies is the name given to the much loved range of theraputic and relaxing specialised methods developed by Gerda Boyesen. Her unique insight (which she called the ‘great secret’ of vegetative release) is that we can dissolve the impact of stress and nervousness, and resolve any emotional conflicts that may be related, often without psychotherapy or analysis.

Biodynamic Psychotherapy

This is a unique combination of mind and body therapy.

The main aim of Biodynamic Pschotherapy is to help individuals reconnect with, experience and reinforce their own primary personality or core. The primary personality can be defined as this space of being within ourselves that knows that it is connected to our true sense of self and purpose in life

The body has the ability to self regulate during moments of stress. In daily life we are regularly confronted with all kinds of emotions and stresses, which can lead to tension. Some feelings and stresses can be stronger than others. We are not always able to express these emotions or to cope with too much stress and tension. The self regulating ability of the body reacts to stress by building a protective shield. If a person repeatedly represses feelings and emotions and conflicts remain unresolved, then tension and stress cannot be released.

This protective resistance grows layer by layer and self regulation of the body is hindered.

What happens in a session

In a first session you will be asked to say a little about your life and medical history. This information will be treated as strictly confidential. During the massage you will be kept warm and comfortable at all times and your privacy is ensured throughout the session. Although you may feel some benefit after one session, a sustained change is only made possible by regular sessions over a period of weeks or months.

Block Therapy - The Biodynamic Retreat

The facility of block therapy is one of the longest established services offered through the Biodynamic Clinic. Block therapy is also known as the biodynamic retreat because it offers the opportunity to be away from everyday concerns and have quality time and attention just for you. Block therapy is also a very real and practical solution if you have far to travel, have reached a plateau in your current therapy, or need to take time out to address a particular issue or health matter.

Psychotherapist Consultation

Gerda Boyesen the founder of Biodynamic Psychology and Psychotherapy discovered that the gut has an additional function, which is not only to digest food, but also to digest the bio-chemical by-products of stress, life experiences and emotional events, including trauma or abuse. She named this function “psycho-peristalsis”. This term was chosen to indicate the psychodynamic aspects of the peristaltic function and to acknowledge the neurological, psychological and emotional components of the digestive process.
She went on to discover that the by-products of stress accumulate and get stuck or trapped in the normal fluids of the body and change their composition. She coined the term “energetic nervous fluid” (ENF) to distinguish this from normal body fluids because the body fluids now contain hormonal remnants and biochemical residues – leading to tissue armour or numbness and stasis. These by-products, if left in the body, can lead to dysfunction and eventually, disease.
Gerda Boyesen developed a range of biodynamic methods including biodynamicmassage’ (placing a loudspeaker stethoscope on the abdomen of the client during the massage to listen to and monitor the sounds of psycho-peristalsis) which includes‘emptying’. This treatment is designed to help the body to “empty” energetic nervous fluid and to assist the natural elimination of potentially harmful nervous energetic fluid from all cells and processes in the body. Emptying is a regenerative treatment, often leading to feelings of cleansing, relaxation, peace and relief.
