About Allen Gilhooly Sligo Counselling

My name is Allen Gilhooly and I run a service for Individuals, Families and Community groups that promotes Positive Mental Health through Workshops, Talks and One to One counselling. My Counselling/Psychotherapy service is affordable and adheres to the ethics and codes of  the Institute of Accredited Counsellors & Psychotherapists.

I work with all kinds of life's difficulties e.g. Anger, Depression, Panic, Bereavement, Suicide, Pregnancy related difficulties, Men's issues, Children & Teen issues - and many more. Feel free to look at my website for more detail 

How I work is simple. You're the expert in your own life and my job is to help you to re-discover your own tools /resources to help you get to where you would like to be.  I will work with what you want and will check in regularly about how we are doing that so you are on track to achieving your goal. I will work alongside you without telling you what to do as I'm sure you have plenty of people who can do that for free in your life.

Always a positive and relaxed atmosphere during the sessions

Allen is the top class in helping children if my experience is anything to go by. Always a positive and relaxed atmosphere during the sessions. He really helped my son make progress during a very difficult time along with reinforcing better self-esteem and better ways to process how to deal with anxiety.

Crisis Counselling, Medium or Long term counselling available depending on what the client needs. Counselling is confidential, based on many approaches but uses a common-sense to match the need of the client. It always leaves the client feeling in control of what is happening. 

 

Depression

This type of counselling seeks to support a couple or an individual partner finding dificulties in a rerlationship. Issues such as conflict, loss of love, fidelity,jealousy etc. are dealt with here in a safe way using mediation and focusing on developing commnication between partners.
