Biography:
I believe therapy must take place within the context of an attuned safe therapeutic relationship. I work from a person-centered ethos of non-judgement, positive regard and a recognition of the uniqueness of each person. I believe when client and therapist are in resonant contact a felt sense of their connection creates the atmosphere within which healing takes place. I aim to be a facilitator of assisted self discovery for the client. The relationship is the catalyst that facilitates change, understanding and growth. My orientation is holistic and is influenced by Eastern philosophy healing modalities and by Buddhism. Buddhism teaches, “all of life is connected and intertwined we are not separate from our environment, we all have infinite potential within and by tapping into our innate wisdom we can effect change in our circumstances and in our lives.” In recent years I have been training in Sensorimotor therapy which utilizes body wisdom and is based on the Hakomi principles of organizity, non-violence, mind/body/spirit holism, unity and collaboration. Hakomi is a Hopi, American Indian word, meaning “who are you.”
