Consultant psychiatrists, Dr Adrian Winbow and Prof Anthony Hale diagnose and treat a variety of mental health problems including depression, stress, anxiety, phobias, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, addictions and many other mental health disorders in adults and young people from the age of 16, as well as specialist disorders including intractable or resistant depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, autistic spectrum disorders, ADHD, OCD and body dysmorphia.

Private Psychiatry offers a variety of psychiatric therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), hypnotherapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and supportive psychotherapy amongst others. Dr Winbow has worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the South East, initially in the NHS and since 1980 he has been a private Consultant Psychiatrist in private psychiatric hospitals and clinics throughout the South East of England.

He is a member of the Association of European Psychiatrists (AEP), a member of the Independent Doctors Forum (IDF) as well as the Federation of Independent Practitioner Organisation (FIPO).  Dr Winbow is a member of the GMCs panel of Psychiatric Examiners and Assessors and sits on Fitness to Practice Panels as a Specialist Advisor. He is also Medical Advisor for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, and Clinical Advisor at the General Pharmaceutical Council.

General interests: General adult psychiatry, older adults and memory problems, affective disorders including depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, eating disorders, alcohol misuse and addictions, anxiety disorders and phobias, post traumatic stress disorders, psychotic disorders including schizophrenia, and personality disorders.

Biography:

Prof Hale has 30 years' experience as a consultant psychiatrist and holds specialist registration in general adult and forensic psychiatry within the NHS working within inpatient forensic and low secure psychiatry and outpatient mood disorder, tertiary opinion, adult ADHD and PTSD clinics, and has twice held the post of Medical Director of NHS Trusts. He was a senior lecturer at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals and in 1994 was appointed as Professor and academic head of department at Sheffield University and later the University of Kent, where he is now Emeritus Professor of Mental Health.

Prof Hale has been involved in developing modern treatments for depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia and mentally disordered offenders. He has provided numerous legal reports for the courts. He has run academic second opinion clinics in mood disorders, psychosis, ADHD and psychiatric occupational health and regularly teaches on these topics in the UK and internationally.

Prof Hale is fully trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Psychotherapy, psychoeducation groups for depression and bipolar disorders, and Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS).

He is a member of the British Association of Psychopharmacology, the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP) and a member of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine.
