BSc(Hons) MBChB FANZCA FFPMANZCA Dr Thomas studied medicine at the University of Otago in New Zealand, graduating with distinction in 1992. He trained in anaesthesia and pain medicine and has worked exclusively in pain management since 2003 having held specialist positions at Wellington Hospital, The Royal Brisbane Hospital and was Director of The Persistent Pain Service at The PA Hospital in Brisbane until 2013 when he left to work full time in private practice. He is currently Director of Pain Management at St Vincents Private Hospital Brisbane. Dr Thomas sees patients with all types of chronic pain. He has particular expertise in the management of back pain, neck pain and headaches. He is able to offer a full range of interventional procedures including diagnostic injections to locate the source of pain and various therapeutic options including the advanced nerve and spinal cord stimulation systems. He can help patients find the best combination of medications to manage their pain. He can also arrange a pain management program at St Vincent's Hospital to help patients learn other techniques to manage their pain.
