Cranial Osteopathy is an extremely gentle and subtle form of treatment where manipulation of the cranial plates occur to encourage healthy flow of cerebrospinal fluid around the brain and spinal cord. This is extremely important and beneficial for babies and those who have received whiplash injury, trauma to the head or suffered a fall

Osteopathy consultation will consist of thorough case history, biomechanical assessment, neurological examination and orthopaedic testing as appropriate. X-ray referral may be made if appropriate. There will usually be treatment on the first session consisting of a combination approach of structural Osteopathy and Cranial depending on diagnosis.

Osteopathy for the baby and during childhood is extremely important for the growing child. Osteopathic techniques applied appropriately and gently can remove or reduce leftover strain patterns within the child's cranium and musculoskeletal system. It can reduce the appearance plagiocephaly and facial asymmetry and it is known to help reduce and relieve colic symptoms. In the growing child, the effects of sport can sometimes take its toll and can lead onto dysfunctions such as Osgood-Schlatters syndrome or Juvenile Arthritis. Eliminating the effects of trauma within the growing spine and skeleton removes potential early joint degeneration in the child and also encourages a healthy adulthood.
