Great Dunmow Osteopathic Clinic is the oldest physical therapy Clinic in Dunmow. We have been here for over 30 years serving the Dunmow Community. We strive to provide the best knowledge, osteopathy and physical therapy available in the area we do this with regular weekly CPD and further learning. I have had the privilege of learning from the best Osteopaths in the world and the leading researchers in the field of osteopathy. This allows us to stay ontop of the ever changing developments in physical therapy and medicine to ensure we can give you honest unbiased advice on your health questions. We want to educate you about pain and biomechanics and the relationship between movement and health. This will optimise your physiology allowing you to express health to the maximum, allowing you to pursue a healthy active lifestyle. Osteopathy

Cranial Osteopathy

Cranial Osteopathy is essentially palpation at its most refined. It helps reduce subtle strains in the fascias of the body to ease. Its extreme gentleness lends itself perfectly to paediatric care for newborns and upwards. It can also be very useful in treating adults.

Myofascial Release

This is a similar technique to fascial unwinding, but here, the focus is not exclusively on the fascia. We work into the neural musclar system at the horizon between fascia and muscle. Here essentially we are treating a pattern that is at a more acute phase rather than the more chronic Fascial unwinding stage.

Paediatric Osteopathy

Treatment of children is a challenging and sometimes very difficult thing to do. Unfortunately the first time we may be called upon to help correct asymmetry from trauma be it early years bumps and tumbles or even birth trauma such as the restrictions in ventilation after respiratory distress from the delivery process; is often 30-40 years after onset. Correct the flight of the arrow early and it will not fall far from the target, ignore the poor aim and you may never find that arrow again.

Spinal Rehabilitation - Neck and Back Injury

The reconnection of your neural system to the muscular system is a long and slow process but essential to you regain enough mobility to stay healthy(ie pulmonary, cardiac, gastrointestinal, hepatic ,splenic and renal) all depend heavily on locomotion and mechanical movement to aid their deeper physiological processes. We need to be Mindful of these things and I can show you how.

Back Pain Treatment

Yes..... I manipulate joints too but my treatments are NOT exclusivley this. It is recommended by National Institute of Clinical Excellence(N.I.C.E) to improve the condition of certain types of mechanical back pain, Osteopaths do not believe it is just a question of releasing trapped nerves. Often conditions that cause nerves to be congested would in fact be aggravated by heavy manipulation. The othe rquestion to answer is what makes nerves work?

CST - Craniosacral Therapy

Cranio-sacral therapy is practiced by Non- osteopaths who attend short courses and are taught to feel the Involutary mechanism of the body. I spent 4 years at full time college practising my palpation for 3-4 hrs a day it took me until the 4th year to begin to feel the movements I did over 1000 hours of clinical practice with mostly very poor results and it was only by prolonged detailed and exhaustive study of the anatomy and physiology of the human being that I started to see/feel a possible therapeutic consequence to my administrations. I have now been practicing Cranial Osteopathy for 14 yrs and I would consider myself competant. So these guys who learn it in 3 months they are all obviously gifted healers!
