Dr Virginia Luks

Biography:
She had her sights set on becoming an orthodontist like her father, Dr. Eric Luks. She saw how he was having a positive impact on the lives of his patients, while having fun at the same time. She wanted to be able to make that difference in people's lives too. After completing high school in 1987 at Branksome Hall School in Toronto, she attended Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in French in 1990. She always knew she wanted to be a dentist but also wanted the opportunity to explore the arts. Having been in a French immersion program from kindergarten to grade 10 in the public school system, choosing French as a major seemed a natural choice. She became a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in 1997 that also qualified her to practice her specialty in Canada. Very early in her professional career, she demonstrated her pursuit of continued clinical proficiency and excellence by embarking on a lengthy examination process to become board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.

Dr Eric Luks

Biography:
He is the senior practicing orthodontist at Luks Orthodontics. He is the legacy and fine reputation behind the name. Dr. Eric Luks is an Estonian immigrant who moved to Canada as a young boy with his family. He attended Northview Heights Collegiate and graduated in 1960. He attended the University of Toronto and graduated in 1965 from the Faculty of Dentistry with honors after accepting several academic awards. He then practiced general dentistry in Ottawa for one year between 1965-1966 as it was a requirement at the time for entry into a graduate program. From 1966-1968, he attended the Graduate Department of Orthodontics at the University of Toronto and graduated with a Diploma in Orthodontics in 1968. Following this, he undertook research in growth and development and graduated with a Master of Science in Dentistry in 1969. He has been actively involved in organized dentistry and served as President to many dental and orthodontic associations including: the Ontario Association of Orthodontists (1972-1973), the Toronto Orthodontic Club (1975-1976), the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists (1982-1983), and P.G. Anderson Study Group (2001-2003). Dr. Luks has received many awards and honors but the most meaningful of these was "Alumnus of Distinction" from the University of Toronto.
