They did a telephone consultation with photographs, gave thorough answers to all my questions, and were able to schedule a 2,000-graft FUE hair transplant procedure within 3 weeks of deciding to go with them. Their new clinic is very sleek, shiny, modern, and near a hospital.
I'd had a previous hair transplant, but wanted more coverage, and Dr. Jimmy Cortez used much better tools and techniques that didn't exist 3 years ago. Specifically, he used about 10 fancy disposable "punches" that looked kind of like short stout plastic syringes with a beveled hollow needle that his team of technicians would latch a single graft onto. When he inserted the graft and pushed the plunger the steel needle would retract, leaving only the graft.
This has a bunch of benefits compared to the old way. Just a pin prick instead of a 1/4" slit. Less bleeding. Less swelling. Less pain. Better control of the angle the hair implants at. Much more efficient so he can spend more energy focusing on the aesthetic. Less solution used, so less puffiness afterward. Faster recovery. The day after I was far more comfortable and able to go about my business.
He also included [Treatment name removed] injections, which seemed to help hair grow and improve transplant success.
Everything was included (2 nights in nice Hotel Real del Rio on the same block, medications, [Name redacted], 2 kinds of shampoo, mist spray to hydrate scalp and reduce itching) for a very reasonable price. The only extra I purchased was concierge service to pick me up at San Diego airport and return me back the day after the procedure. It was cheaper than taxis and I didn't want to hassle with arranging ground transportation.
I'd recommend Dr. Cortez to just about anyone.
I chose Hair Medical Restoration because Dr. Cortez described advanced techniques that would give me good coverage with a faster, more comfortable recovery. His reputation checked out. I looked at the building on Google Street View, and it's modern, in a nice area and near a hospital. The quoted price included everything and was very reasonable. The staff was nice and very professional. Once I got there, the facilities looked even better in person. Shiny and new. I was treated well. They patiently answered my questions, and I had a lot.
