Prof Peter Bampton

Biography:
A/Prof Bampton is the Head of Luminal Gastroenterology at Flinders Medical Centre and Associate Professor of Gastroenterology at Flinders University of South Australia. A/Prof Bampton graduated in medicine from the University of Adelaide in 1988, and completed specialist training in Gastroenterology in 1996. He was also awarded a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of New South Wales for his thesis work on colonic physiology in 2002. He has a sub-speciality interest in inflammatory bowel disease and set up the Southern Adelaide IBD Service. He was a founding member of the national executive of IBD Australia. He has an interest in colorectal and oesophageal cancer prevention, developing the SCOOP and BOSS recall programs at FMC, RGH and SGIS which have achieved national recognition as quality surveillance programs. He has been an elected member of council of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (the national body of Gastroenterology in Australia) as well as chair of its education arm, the Digestive Health Foundation. He has participated in a number of state and national committees advising on colorectal cancer screening and prevention and given expert opinion to the Medical Board of Victoria, Melbourne Health and the RACP Specialist Advisory Committee for Gastroenterology. He has been a scientific grant reviewer for the NHMRC (Australia), Canterbury Health (NZ) and the Ministry of Health of Singapore. A/Prof Bampton has given over 120 presentations at scientific meetings, and has more than 60 publications and has contributed to both the Australian Medicines and Therapeutic Guidelines Handbooks. He is a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association, and has been recognised as presenting papers of distinction at their annual scientific meeting.

Biography:
Dr Tim Bright graduated from Adelaide University and obtained his general surgical fellowship fro the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2006. He then undertook a Masters of Surgery and further post-fellowship training at the Northern Oesophago- Gastric Cancer Unit in Newcastle UK. He was appointed consultant and senior lecturer in surgery on the Oesophago-Gastric Surgery Unit at Flinders Medical Centre in 2010. Dr Bright's interests include oesophago-gastric cancer and benign upper gasdtrointestinal disorders, as well as interventional upper GI endoscopy including EUS and laparoscopic general surgery.
