A fertility subspecialist and gynaecologist. He has been involved in the provision of fertility services in NZ for over 20 years and is a credentialed sub-specialist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI) with the Royal Australian and NZ College of O&G. His special interests include the laparoscopic treatment of endometrisis , hysteroscopic treatment of fertility related disorders and the use of antagonists in IVF

Trained in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, having graduated medicine from University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. He is accredited as a subspecialist in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (CREI) with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG). He is honorary Professor at the University of Adelaide and holds an honorary appointment with the University of Auckland, Board Member of Endometriosis New Zealand, President Elect of the World Endometriosis Society, Member of the American Association of Gynaecologic Laparoscopists Practice Committee, and past Chairperson of RANZCOG CREI Subspecialty Training Committee.

Is a graduate of the Auckland School of Medicine and trained as an obstetrician and gynaecologist in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom. She worked as a senior lecturer at the University of Auckland from 2003-2008 and as a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist for the Auckland District Health Board from 2003 to 2012. For the past 13 years she has worked mainly in the field of reproductive endocrinology and infertility in both the public and private sectors. Karen’s particular interests include recurrent pregnancy loss and the polycystic ovarian syndrome. She currently practices fertility medicine at Repromed and has a private gynaecology practice with the Auckland Gynaecology Group.
