After graduating in 1993 I moved down to London, working as a junior doctor in teaching hospitals where I gained experience in different specialities before choosing general practice. My husband, Marwan Farouk, is a consultant surgeon at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. I am also a Clinical Assistant in Dermatology at Stoke Mandeville, an Honorary Tutor in Dermatology for Cardiff University and Medical Adviser to the Children’s Family Trust. I like going to the gym, particularly lifting weights, body combat and dance classes. For relaxation I enjoy reading novels and watching world cinema type films.

I decided to change from a career in General Medicine to General Practice in the community and have worked in London and Buckinghamshire.
