I felt the patient centric experience in the hospital

GP Care for Children Under 6

I went to Lotus Children's Hospital, Kukatpally with my 2 year old baby, who had 102 degrees fever. She was asked for few investigations, that were done on OP basis, which cost us about 6,000/- INR. Her reports were abnormal with dengue positive. I was panic and consulted the Doctor over there. Who is so kind to explain me the status of the child with review of the reports and the treatment plan, where I am very much convinced. The treatment went for 2 days and repeat CBP was done, platelets improved and I was happy with all the nursing staff and the duty doctors
I had very pleasant experience through out the stay and no single inconvenience felt. I felt the patient centric experience in the hospital. Thanks to the management and the consultants for equipping a good hospital nearby my residence.

A horrible experience

1 50 Children's Health Consultation • Paid: ₹22000

I visited Lotus hospital after my 4.5 month old baby had normal fever for two days. Straight away, they had his blood test done. Within two hours, I got a call from the hospital, that the CRP value is 48 and we need to get him admitted and start the antibiotics. Being first time parents, we were clueless and just followed the way doctors showed us. We got him admitted in the hospital. Here starts our suffering.
The nurses were so dumb, that they couldn't find my babies vein and tried to have the syringe injected in almost 15 different places. My poor baby was so tired out of this he couldn't even cry! My wife started crying though. He sweat so much, that he got dehydrated! we still thought, its important, so lets get this done. At last a different nurse(probably with little more experience) came and she could find the vein on his hand. This entire two hours of period was not less than going through hell.
Now, he didn't get any fever at all that night, without the treatment being started. I felt this fishy but still continued with it. Next day my baby started crying restlessly. I tried to calm him down but to no avail. One more day passed. Initially they said, admission would be for only one day but later they said it would be 2 days. They sent his urine for some test and said, they said they found some bacterial infection and wanted to do ultrasound for verifying his kidney function. It was done and everything was normal. No problems at all. Please note that, during this entire period my baby never got even mildest of fever. Now, we were told, that we would have to come for another 5 days every morning and evening for antibiotics. Fourth day of the treatment and I noticed my babies hand. What I see, was a shocking horror. He had multiple cut wounds on his hand because of the plastic tape they used. It was looking as if somebody has cut his hand using blade. This was visible on multiple places. I took him to hospital and asked got those tapes removed straightaway. Two days of hospital stay costed us Rs. 22,000/-. I can cover this insurance, however I have only one question. Can't they even use better tapes to avoid this? I took few photographs of his hands. I got a call from them the next day for feedback. I told them the entire story. I even went to the hospital and sent her the pics. She told me, that they would have this discussed in management meeting and they will take proper action. I really don't know whats mean by that and how that's going to help me. Same weekend, I took my baby to my native in Maharashtra and visited a Pediatrician having better qualification than the doctors who treated my baby in Lotus. He saw the report and the first words were "I don't believe in this report". He said, my baby is quite healthy for that kind of report! He had not seen that kind of report in his career of 15 years for more than 10 times. And all of them were kind of critical cases. Still, he wanted to have a urine test done there and verify if there is really any bacteria. As expected, no problems were found.
I had taken my baby nowhere else since his birth but to Lotus hospital, KPHB. However this incident proved, how money hungry they have become and to what extend they can go to earn money. I strongly recommend everybody to not to go there. Save money but most importantly mental stress and suffering of your baby. To prove these things, I still have the reports from Lotus hospital and the one done in my native. Then I have the pics of my baby's hand. I can attach them here if possible.

The nurses were non-responsive.
The AC in my room initially didn't work. When I asked for the remote, I was told, no AC in the hospital has a remote! All of them are lost! It was started manually but the direction of the AC was directly on my babies bed and there was no way to change that. I switched it off.
Next day, I see a guy having around 20 AC remotes in his hands and asked him to start the AC and change the direction. It couldn't be done.
I couldn't use a fan because it was exactly over my baby's bed.
My recommendation, go to any clinic, rather than these big hospitals.
