Dr Paul Friedman

Biography:
Paul M. Friedman, MD, board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology, is the Director of Dermatology & Laser Surgery Center of Houston, Texas, and also practices at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York. He was educated in dermatology at the New York University School of Medicine where he served as chief resident and was twice awarded the prestigious Husik Prize for his research in dermatologic surgery. He completed a one-year fellowship in dermatologic laser surgery, Mohs micrographic surgery, and cutaneous oncology at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York, and he was the recipient of the Young Investigator’s Writing Competition Award from the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Friedman is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Dermatology at University of Texas Medical School, and he is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the Weill Cornell Medical College, The Methodist Hospital. He is also on staff at Texas Children’s Hospital and Memorial-Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center.

Dr. Friedman has been a featured speaker of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and other national and international audiences. He served as Co-Chair for the Cutaneous Laser Surgery Section of the 29th and 31st Annual Conferences of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and will serve as program co-chair for the 35th ASLMS Annual Conference. He has served as chair of the public service committee for the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Friedman has published over 75 medical articles and book chapters, and co-authored the book Beautiful Skin Revealed: The Ultimate Guide to Better Skin. He is Co-Editor of the textbook Lasers and Light Source Treatment for the Skin. Dr. Friedman has been recognized as a leading physician and researcher in the field and has also been involved in the development of several new laser systems and therapeutic techniques now commonly used throughout the world.

Dr Elizabeth Geddes

Biography:
Elizabeth Geddes, M.D., is a dermatologist specializing in both cosmetic and medical dermatology. She has an interest in integrative medicine and focuses on preventive skin care.

Dr. Geddes graduated magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke College and received a Masters of Science in Human Nutrition from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. While attending medical school at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, Dr. Geddes was recognized with the G. Alan Robinson Award for Pharmacology and was elected into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

During her spare time, Dr. Geddes dedicates considerable service time to dermatology volunteer causes, such as the “D-Tag” Tattoo Removal Program, as well as numerous skin cancer prevention/awareness projects – including the American Academy of Dermatology Shade Awareness Project, the Houston Dermatologic Society community skin cancer screenings, and many others.

Dr Brundha Balaraman

Biography:
Brundha Balarman M.D., completed her dermatology residency at Washington University School of Medicine, one of the nation’s top dermatology programs. She attended Cornell University for her undergraduate degree in biological sciences and earned her medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where she was awarded the Wynder Prize for Preventative Medicine and James Yalem Prize in Dermatology.

Dr. Balaraman holds a special research interest in dermatology-related policy issues, and is currently working to implement federal guidelines for indoor tanning facilities. She successfully led efforts during residency to establish tanning bed regulations in Missouri, which garnered national and international recognition.

Dr. Balaraman is frequently interviewed by the media for her expertise in topics such as photo-aging and skin cancer. She has published multiple peer-reviewed scientific articles and has lectured nationally.
