About Dr Claudia DeGiovanni
Claudia completed her medical training at
Imperial College at St Mary’s Hospital in London. She was awarded several
prizes during her medial training and achieved an intercalated BSc achieving a
First Class award. She completed her MB BS with Honours from the
University of London in 1999.
She completed her junior training in the
London area and moved to Brighton for her dermatology training in 2004.
During her training she attended weekly autoimmune clinics St John’s Institute
of Dermatology with Professor Martin Black and Dr Richard Groves. She completed
research investigating the link between psoriasis and bullous pemphigoid. She
was appointed as a consultant at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS
Trust in 2008.
As a consultant she has developed a
research infrastructure within dermatology at Brighton and also developed a
research network across Surrey and Sussex. She is the dermatology lead
for the Clinical Research Network for Kent Surrey and Sussex.
Her main areas of clinical interest are skin lesions including skin
cancer, skin surgery and autoimmune skin conditions. She attended the
internationally renowned, Hugh Greenways Superficial Anatomy and Cutaneous
Surgery course at the SCRIPPS research Institute, University of California San
Diego to develop her surgical skills further and now regularly performs skin
cancer surgery including flap and graft repairs
