"Great experience"
5 50Reviewed 01 May 2016 Review verified by phone and email.
Treatment Received: Hygienist Session
I have been to Symes de Silva & David McKelvey is absolutely excellent, only in his mid 20's, but so gentle I didn't feel a thing & that was a Deep Scale Clean too! I had had gingvitis & bleeding gums, had cleared up in a mth & fine as, but seeing I hadn't been for 4 years I needed a good clean
He let me feel the Ultrasonic Scaler the end of it & it is blunt as, I am an adult & when I put my hand up he stopped immediately! I had an extremely dry mouth & he said you're nervous aye & I said no I just hadn't had much to drink which was true! & he said OK, but lots of people nervous most people are that's fine I nodded my head, he said don't worry with the Ultrasonic scaler u will have water in your mth so u be fine as & I like patients with dry mouth it makes it easier, that gave me something else to think about! I said u are soooooooooooooooooooooooo gentle, he said hey I go to Dentists too so I know, he has a hilarous sense of humour, & also accidently ended up getting water down my neck twice & I said free shower oh cool as. We just laughed & laughed. I am not @ all nervous now @ all, heaps of my friends go here & have gr8 recommendations & I don't need to go back for a year, plus I got a 15% discount & he said look in the mirror are your teeth a bit whiter yes they were too, also I have 1 sensitive tooth OUCH, he said we won't go over that one again then. I can so relax now, he very kind & caring too!
If I find a Dentist or Dr I like I stick with them!
I actually realise that Dentists are just normal people like any other people & Dentistry has come a long way since Dental Clinics in the 1980's with slow drills & no injections & no xrays & probably didn't need fillings but got them anyway.
This is honestly the first ever time I have had a clean where I didn't have bleeding gums or anything, & bubblegum flavoured toothpaste too, YUMMY! I used to go to Dental Nurses & get home & do my teeth again yuck, this stuff I left on.

Absolutely excellent clinic, clean & tidy & very kind, helpful receptonists, David will be on time or he has 1 patient before u, the latest I have waited is 15 mins, last time 5. Dental Assistant, Katelyn really kind too, would recommend her to anyone as well
They get back to u quickly on email or put your messages on their file & treat u like a patient with feelings not a set of teeth
Treated By: David McKelvey Total Amount Paid NZ$145

Dr Ravi De Silva

Job Title:
  Dentist
Biography:
After an initial interest in science at the University of Otago, completing a degree and post graduate diploma in physiology, I chose a career path in dentistry entering the Otago School of Dentistry in 1987 After seven years working in a mixed NHS/Private practice in London, and after extensive travelling it was time to return to New Zealand to pursue an offer to join an old friend, Graham Symes, in Wellington. After working as an Associate for a period, Symes de Silva was formed in 1998. I enjoy all aspects of General Dentistry; routine treatment, cosmetic treatment and the restoration of gaps with implant retained crowns and bridges. I also provide IV sedation for both surgical removal of wisdom teeth as well as for treating anxious patients. I was a facilitator for the Graduate Development Programme for seven years, assisting newly qualified dentists in the region, as well as having an active role on the committee of the Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Dental Association. Currently I remain a member of this local branch.
