Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Dr. Chen completed the International Baccalaureateprogram at which is often recognized as one of the best high schools in Canada and one of the top I.B. World Schools. From there he completed his Honours biochemistry degree at the and then received his dental degree from the. Based on his achievements in dental school, Dr. Chen was inducted into, a North American Dental Honors Society. Continuing his migration east, Dr. Chen was accepted into where he completed their hospital residency program gaining valuable experience in the treatment and management of medically compromised patients. He was subsequently elevated that following year to the role of attending staff instructor at both and in Boston. Though it was hard to say goodbye to New England, Dr. Chens passion for orthodontics brought him back to the where he received his Masters of Science degree in Orthodontics.
