Having graduated from Dentistry in 1977 from the University of Toronto, I was fascinated with how the health of the body was reflected in the mouth. My interest in dentistry stemmed from my fear of dentists. I chose the profession of dentistry because I was determined to overcome my fear of dentistry and help others. The more I learned about the art and science the more my fears diminished. I believe that our clients need to be provided with significant information about their mouth and the various options that are available to them so that we can co-diagnose and co-explore the different opportunities together.
Bernie graduated in 1971 and had his own busy practice until 2002. He was Corporate Chief of Dentistry at the three Osler Medical Centre Hospitals, Etobicoke General Hospital, Peel Memorial Hospital and Georgetown Hospital. He has also worked at three correctional facilities, which he claims were the most fun he had in years. Bernie has taken upgrading courses in Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Periodontics, Geriatric Dentistry, Laser Dentistry, and Implantology.
Bernie is the editor of the Daily Discipline, a publication sent out to dentists across the country advising on legal matters related to the practice of dentistry. His philosophy has always been that humour and laughter are often the best medicine in treatment. Bernie has been with us since February 2003 and says that our office has rejuvenated his career. He has given lectures to physicians on Oral Trauma and has participated on the Ontario Health Care Revue Committee.
Bernie was captain of the Etobicoke Generals Slo-Pitch Team in the yearly OMA tournament.
