About Affinity Dental Group (Sherwood Park Mall)
This dental group runs clinics at three locations in Edmonton, Alberta and one clinic at Sherwood Park in Alberta. Job Title: Dentist Biography: Dr. Lau graduated from the University of Alberta in 1993. He joined our clinic upon graduation and continues to provide quality, caring dentistry for the entire family. Dr. Lau was previously with the Faculty of Dentistry as a clinical instructor in fixed prosthodontics (crowns and bridges). He enjoys cosmetic dentistry and is trained to improve smiles with Invisalign. Dr. Lau is also involved with Kindness in Action, a volunteer group which provides dental services to indigent people in various third world countries. His recent missions were to Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Peru. He has made many friends in these countries and finds his efforts very rewarding.
Dr Jerry Doberstein
Job Title: Dentist Biography: Dr. Doberstein graduated from the University of Alberta in 1987 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery. As a student, he spent his summers doing research on the topic of TMJ imaging and notably was the U of As representative for the CDA student clinician awards competition.
Upon graduation, Dr Doberstein has worked in general practice dentistry, here at the Sherwood Park clinic since 1990. As well, he has spent 7 years teaching at the U of A Faculty of Dentistry as an assistant clinical professor. He has completed numerous continuing education courses including a comprehensive orthodontic training course.
Dr Doberstein loves to travel and experience other cultures. This meshes well with a keen interest in aid and development work internationally. He has had opportunities to travel to South and Central America and most recently Africa to work in a dental capacity with an eye to continue this in the future.
Dr Jay Haraphongse
Job Title: Dentist Biography: Dr. Haraphongse was born and raised in Edmonton. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 2001. After practicing in Minnesota for three years, he returned home and joined the Sherwood Park Mall Dental Centre where he strives to continue providing quality care in a caring manner. He is also a clinical instructor at the University of Alberta Faculty of Dentistry. Dr. Haraphongse is a general dentist who enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and appreciates the cooperative spirit shared by the team members and doctors within Affinity Dental Group.
