He graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1977 and entered private practice. After spending 1980 in London, studying at the Royal College of Dental Surgeons and establishing a general dental practice in Finsbury Park, he returned to Perth and completed his Masters degree in Orthodontics in 1984. Over the next 25 years, John established two specialist Orthodontic practices in the Perth suburbs of Midland and Mount Lawley which grew to a combined Team of five orthodontists and 33 staff. He has held the position of Honorary Consultant Orthodontist to the Disabilities Services Commission since 1986 and is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, Academy of Dentistry International and Pierre Fauchaud Academy. John has recently been elected Regent, Section VIII, Australasian Section, International College of Dentists. In early 2009, John and his wife Jan, founded, coordinated and financed, the Kimberley Dental Team. With the assistance of volunteer dental teams, the Team has visited the remote East Kimberley region of WA, five times, to provide much needed urgent general dental care. The Team regularly visits the many far flung communities around Halls Creek, including Balgo Hills, Ringers Soak, Yiyili, Warmun, Frog Hollow and Gibb River Community. In his spare time, John is an adventurer at heart. He has trekked and climbed on many of the large mountains of the word, in India, Pakistan, Nepal, France and Tanzania and has flown a helicopter to all corners of Australia and New Zealand with his wife Jan. The helicopter is an invaluable aid to get dental teams into the remote communities and maximize the Teams productive time.

finished his secondary education at Christ Church Grammar School. Following this he went to the University of Western Australia where he completed his dental degree in 1998. After working in private practice, Perth Dental Hospital, Government Dental Health Services and the Centre for Rural and Remote Oral Health both in Albany, Kalgoorlie and Perth over 3 years, in 2002 he went to Melbourne, where he completed his graduate diploma in clinical dentistry and doctorate in clinical dentistry (specialist orthodontics degree)at the University of Melbourne in 2004. At the same time, he completed college examinations to be accepted as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. Prior to going to Melbourne, he completed the primary examinations with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons as well as a Bachelor in Science in Dentistry based on research pertaining to orthodontic treatment and the interdental papillae. Following graduation, he returned to Perth, where he joined John Owen in specialist private orthodontic practice in Midland. In his first year, he travelled to the USA to complete a post doctoral fellowship at Saint Louis University, Missouri. On his return, in 2006, he continued private practice in Midland with John Owen where they both run Midland Orthodontics today. He is currently a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Department of Orthodontics, University of Western Australia and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Saint Louis University. His current interests are in TMD, occlusion and orthodontics, the influence of growth and orthodontic treatment on treatment outcomes, evidence-based orthodontic treatment.

She studied for her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.Ch.D.) in Leeds, UK 1983 -1987 and graduated with Honours. After working in Oral Surgery for 2 years she studied at the Eastman Dental Hospital in London and gained her Fellowship in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 1990, her Master of Science in Orthodontics from the University of London in 1992, and her Membership in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1993. After working at Newcastle Dental Hospital, UK, she came to Western Australia in 1996 and initially worked at the Perth Dental Hospital. She and Dr Owen set up Mount Lawley Orthodontics in 2000, and Dr Hall became practice principal in 2010. She also works as an associate in Midland and Fremantle.
