Braces
Both children and adults can benefit from orthodontics with a great range of appliances available to suit everyone. Addressing your orthodontic needs is obviously a simpler process as a child however with the techniques now available, as an adult you have a choice of numerous applicances that fit with your image and needs.

Dental Bridges
A bridge is a treatment option used to replace one or several teeth. The teeth on each end of the space are used as anchors to support the replacement tooth. It is essential to insert a replacement tooth as soon as possible when a tooth is lost as teeth may move into the space changing your bite over time. This changed bite may result in sore jaws, gum disease, or decay (due to more difficult hygiene). Bridges are a more permanent solution, removable only by us at the practice. As with other types of crowns, a bridge can be made of metal, porcelain or a combination of these two. Again at Curtin Dental Care, we recommend porcelain for use on our patients. To prepare a bridge, diagnostic models are taken to study the optimum way to perform this procedure. After studies are completed, the teeth used to attach the bridge are carefully reshaped. Impressions are taken and from these impressions, the bridge is made by a dental technician. The laboratory time is usually 2 to 3 weeks - during this time a temporary acrylic bridge is cemented to place.

Dental Crowns
Crowns strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure and can improve the appearance of your teeth. Crowns can be made from different materials which include the full porcelain crown, the porcelain fused-to-metal crown and the all-metal crown. Here at Curtin Dental Care, we recommend porcelain crowns for our patients due to the durability and strength and their aesthetically pleasing appearance in the mouth. It is common that the fitting of a crown is completed in two visits. During your first visit, the tooth is prepared for the crown, an impression is made of the tooth, and a temporary crown is placed over the prepared tooth. At the next visit, the temporary crown is removed and the final crown is fitted, adjusted and finally cemented into place.

Dental Implants
An implant replaces both the root and the crown, providing you with a new complete tooth that is fixed securely to your jaw bone and matches your existing teethImplants can provide a permanent solution for one or many missing teeth and once again, you will be able to smile widely and enjoy whatever food you desire.

Mini Implants
The MDI system consists of a miniature titanium implant that acts like the root of your tooth and a retaining fixture that is incorporated into the based of your denture. The head of the implant is shaped like a ball and the retaining fixture acts like a socket that contains a rubber O-ring. The O-ring snaps over the ball when the denture is seated and holds the denture at a predetermined level of force. When seated, the denture gently rests on the gum tissue. The implant fixtures allow for micro-mobility while withstanding natural lifting forces.

Dentist Consultation

Dentures
There are various types of complete dentures. A conventional full denture is made and placed in your mouth after the remaining teeth are removed and tissues have healed, which may take several months. An immediate complete denture is inserted as soon as the remaining teeth are removed. We would take measurements and make models of your jaws during a preliminary visit. With immediate dentures, you would not be without teeth during the healing period.

Hygienist Session
We offer the services of professional Dental Hygienists to all patients to assist in ensuring preventative oral health. Common procedures offered by our Hygienists include scaling, root planing and instructions for proper oral hygiene care.

Root canals
Root Canal therapy is necessary when the pulp, the soft tissue inside the root canal, becomes inflamed or infected. The inflammation or infection can have a variety of causes: deep decay, repeated dental procedures on the tooth, or a crack or chip in the tooth. In addition, an injury to a tooth may cause pulp damage even if the tooth has no visible chips or cracks. If pulp inflammation or infection is left untreated, it can cause pain or lead to an abscess.

Sedation for dental treatments
Inhalation sedation. Inhalation sedation is a preferable option as patients recover quickly and may leave the dental office alone and immediately resume their normal daily activities.

Teeth Whitening
We take impressions of your top and bottom teeth. Very thin trays are made with soft plastic that are like tiny mouthguards. We provide you with a kit that has the whitening solution. You place the gel inside the trays and wear the trays as instructed.

TMJ - Temporomandibular Joint Treatment
Neuromuscular dentistry allows us to track your jaw movement and assess how best to treat your symptoms. By relaxing your muscles, we can check whether you have the correct bite and if not, where your bite should be. Then, using data retrieved from our analysis, we can decide on what treatment needs to be done to resolve your problems.

Veneers

Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are thin, yet strong tooth-coloured porcelain shells that are bonded on to the front of your teeth. They have a "life like" appearance with the strength, beauty, and durability only porcelain restorations can create.
