Breast Implants

This surgery is used to enhance the size and shape of a woman’s breast for a number of reasons. Breast augmentation is a surgery done under general anesthesia where implants are placed underneath the breast tissues in order to improve the overall size and shape of the breasts. Breast augmentation alone cannot correct droopy breasts. If this is your desire, we will talk during the consultation about the option of a breast lift in conjunction with augmentation. The implants can be filled with either a type of silicone or they can be saline. Implants come in a large variety of shapes and sizes. Dr. Whetstone will provide you with an opportunity to handle and try on the implants during your consultation at our Las Colinas Centre for Plastic Surgery office.

Breast Lift

Breastlift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts–at least, for a time. (No surgery can permanently delay the effects of gravity.) Mastopexy can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. If your breasts are small or have lost volume–for example, after pregnancy–breast implants inserted in conjunction with mastopexy can increase both their firmness and their size. If you’re considering a breast lift, this brochure will give you a basic understanding of the procedure–when it can help, how it’s performed, and what results you can expect. Brow Lift

Instruments are used to weaken the muscles that cause frown lines, while also lifting and repositioning the forehead skin. The patient’s head is wrapped with dressing, which are typically removed a day or two after the surgery. Oral medication is prescribed to reduce any pain and discomfort. Bruising typically disappears within 7-10 days, and all sutures and staples are removed within that time frame as well. A browlift may be used in combination with other procedures, such as an eyelid lift, face lift, or other similar procedures enhancing the appearance of the face.

Blepharoplasty

Technically named “blepharoplasty,” eyelid surgery removes fat, excess skin, and muscle from your eyelids. This surgery corrects those puffy bags below your eyes, as well as drooping upper lids. These conditions all make you appear older and more tired than you actually are, and in some cases, can even negatively affect your vision. As you age, your eyelids stretch, and the muscles supporting them weaken, while fat accumulates around your eyes. Bags, as a result, appear above and below.
 

Facelift

Technically known as “rhytidectomy,” a face lift surgery in Dallas doesn’t stop the aging process, but it can set the clock back, making you appear younger by removing excess fat, tightening muscles, and redraping your face and neck skin. You can have this procedure performed alone, or you can have it performed in conjunction with other procedures such as eyelid surgery, a forehead lift, or a neck lift.
 

Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is a medical term that comes from the Greek words for “women-like breasts.” Though this oddly named condition is rarely talked about, it’s actually quite common. Gynecomastia affects an estimated 40 to 60 percent of men. It may affect only one breast or both. Though certain drugs and medical problems have been linked with male breast over development, there is no known cause in the vast majority of cases. For men who feel self-conscious about their appearance, breast reduction surgery can help. The procedure removes fat and or glandular tissue from the breasts, and in extreme cases removes excess skin, resulting in a chest that is flatter, firmer, and better contoured. If you’re considering surgery to correct gynecomastia, this will give you a basic understanding of the procedure – when it can help, how it’s performed, and what results you can expect.
