A facelift is a surgical procedure which addresses only the lower face and neck, elevating and tightening those tissues to improve the neck and jowls. This is usually done through incisions which begin in the hairline in front of the ear, around the ear and into the hairline behind the ear. Frequently there is also a small incision under the chin. All facelifts are not equal. Historically, a facelift involved incisions around the ears, with removal of the excess skin, pulling the remaining skin tight and closing the incisions. In fact, this is still the operation most surgeons do when performing a facelift. The problem is the skin is the weakest, most stretchy layer of the face. Putting the tension (all of the pull) on this skin layer results in a facelift that initially appears overly pulled and tight; as the skin relaxes, much of the effect of the lift is lost, frequently within a year.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty procedures can include alterations in the nasal dorsum, where a large hump can be reduced and/or a wide nasal base can be made narrower and more delicate. Tip rhinoplasty procedures employ cartilage removal and cartilage alterations with stitches to refine a bulbous or boxy tip, or reduce projection of an overly large nose. Wide, flaring nostrils can be made smaller with alar base procedures. A patient with a crooked nose may undergo rhinoplasty to help straighten the nose to improve their appearance. Nasal airway obstruction can also be addressed with surgery on the septum to straighten a deviation. Some patients may have excessively large turbinates (internal nasal structures that help humidify the air we breathe), which can be reduced.
 

Tummy Tuck

Abdominoplasty, also known as tummy tuck surgery, is performed at my Dallas plastic surgery practice to create a firm, taut abdominal contour. Good abdominoplasty candidates have loose abdominal skin and/or large fat deposits in their midsections that are unresponsive to diet and exercise. Many women who have had children find that abdominoplasty is the only way to restore the firmness that they once had in the abdominal area. This is a particularly common procedure performed during a mommy makeover operation. People who have lost significant amounts of weight and have excess abdominal skin and tissue are also good candidates for a tummy tuck. I can often achieve dramatic and natural-looking results for the massive weight loss patients. Full abdominoplasty involves an incision around the belly button (umbilicus) and across the lower abdomen. The abdominal skin is elevated off of the abdominal wall and the underlying muscles are tightened. The excess skin is removed including any lower abdominal stretch marks.
