Facelift

A facelift, technically known as a rhytidectomy, can take years off your face by reducing the sagging appearance of facial and neck skin. In traditional facelift surgery, a simple incision is made around the ear and extends to the hairline behind the neck. Dr. Emanuele then extends the incision into deeper tissue to tighten it with a few simple stitches. If necessary, Dr. Emanuele can remove extra skin or re-drape it during facelift surgery to create a fresher, younger appearance. The benefit of a facelift is that incisions are virtually invisible and cannot be detected easily after surgery, but the effect (younger, tighter-looking skin) can be seen almost immediately after a patient recovers.

The operation is performed by making an incision in the lower abdomen just above the pubis. The incision may go from hip to hip but is placed under the bikini line so that it is well hidden. The skin and fat is removed from the abdominal muscles all the way up to the bottom of the rib cage. All of the fat below the belly button is typically removed. The skin above the belly button is drawn down to the pubis and secured into position.

Dr. Emanuele works closely with each patient to develop an individualized plan of treatment and is dedicated to helping you achieve natural-looking results.

East End Plastic Surgery & Laser Center in Suffolk County on Long Island, NY, offers an advanced variety of surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures, including face lifts, brow lifts, abdominoplasty, liposuction; breast lifts, breast augmentation, breast reduction; and a variety of laser procedures such as photo facials, laser hair removal and laser skin resurfacing to treat sun damage, brown spots, acne scars and texture issues.

Dr. Emanuele is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. She earned her medical degree in 1988 from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. She completed a General Surgery residency at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia, PA before completing a Hand and Microvascular Surgery Fellowship and a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency at Wayne State University School of Medicine–Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, MI. Dr. Emanuele is the Director of Plastic Surgery and an attending staff member at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport. Her professional memberships include:
