Breast Implants

Breast Augmentation
Breast implants can be placed above or below the chest wall muscle. However, Dr. Carter also practices the most recent improvement in breast augmentation surgery: the placement of the implants in the sub-fascia level, instead of directly under the glands or under the chest muscle. This fascia covers the pectoral muscles but lies below the mammary glands of the breasts. Placing the breast implants under the fascia provides the implants with more stability and less unwanted visibility than direct placement in the glandular tissue, and it provides a less invasive alternative to placing the implant underneath the pectoral muscles. Sub-fascia breast implants mean less pain and quicker recovery than sub-pectoral implants, while still allowing clear mammogram screening and still creating the same high level of aesthetic results.

Facelift
The face lift raises sagging jowls and reestablishes a more youthful jaw-line. When combined with liposuction of the face and neck, it can literally take years off your face. The face lift mainly improves the lower face and cheeks, where the effects of age and gravity are most clearly seen, but Dr. Carter also does eyebrow lifts, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), and soft silicone chin implants to provide as much of the “total makeover” as his patients desire.

Abdominoplasty
There are two distinct types of tummy tuck operations: modified abdominoplasty and full abdominoplasty. In the modified technique, the plastic surgeon will remove the fat and skin from the lower part on the stomach. This procedure leaves behind a relatively small scar and most people who opt for this procedure usually consider having liposuction done at a later time in the upper region of the abdomen in order to achieve that much-desired flat stomach. The full tummy tuck is the preferred option for women who have had multiple pregnancies and for men and women who have lost a lot of weight rapidly. In a full tummy tuck, the fat and excess skin from the abdominal area is removed and the stomach muscles are tightened. Scarring is usually restricted to the lower abdomen and the recovery time from this operation is much longer than it would be from the modified technique. In some cases, the operation may also include relocating the bellybutton.

Medical Aesthetics

Dermal Fillers
Primarily used as anti-aging treatments, they can also be used to repair the damage from injuries and prolonged illnesses. Some of them have even been used in the past to restore the face to its natural fullness, replacing the gauntness left behind by chemotherapy and wasting diseases, like HIV. The makeup varies for each compound, some using completely synthetic materials that are not natural to the body, while others use chemicals that will be found naturally in our own skin. And, just as the materials vary, so does the staying power of each treatment.

Treatment for Wrinkles
The chemical mix that comprises treatment for wrinkles injections contains a minute amount of the bacteria , as well as carrier proteins that act as blockers to particular nerve cells in the skin. There are chemicals that are normally released by these nerve cells in the skin that cause the facial muscles to tighten, creating those fine lines and wrinkles often enough to make them permanent. Once injected, the treatment keeps those releases from happening by blocking the nerve cells, and weakening the muscle contractions. This gives the skin a smoother appearance, and relaxes the lines into non-existence. Rumors had it that it paralyzed the facial muscles completely, but rest assured this is simply not true. It just relaxes them, and reduces their responses to tighten up.
