Principal chiropractor and founder of the Abacus Clinic.

Deirdre has over 35 years experience of healthcare, primarily with pregnant women, babies and children.

Her aim is to enable each child to reach its optimum best. With five years research culminating in two published papers, she advocates early assessment, treatment where necessary and guidelines for care. Deirdre attained a combined Nursing degree and Health Vistors certificate before re-training as a chiropractor. She is an experienced lecturer and expert advisor/examiner in Paediatrics for several academic institutes. Registered with the GCC, she is a Fellow of the College of Chiropractors, a Fellow of the Paediatrics Faculty of the College of Chiropractors and a Fellow of the McTimoney Chiropractic Association. Was presented with an Award for Outstanding Achievement by the McTimoney Chiropractic College

Chiropractor and Qualified Pilates instructor

Katie has been a member of the Abacus team since 2006. Her interests include sports and Pilates which support her Degree in Sports Sciences and her training as a qualified chiropractor. Katie is a qualified Pilates Instructor and can provide 1:1 plans on request. Katie has worked alongside Deirdre Edwards in the Childrens Clinic which has helped to hone her chiropractic skills with children & pregnant women.

Katie juggles her role at Abacus with the needs of her family, with 2 young boys, and all their activities. Instruction of Pilates and Fitness Classes.  Lecturing and providing hands on teaching for graduates, often in conjunction with Deirdre. Katie sees many of the babies, toddlers and youngsters in the practice as they progress in their stages of development.

Tamzin Blinkhorn

Tamzins interest in chiropractic began when she was a teenager after both she and her horse were treated. This had a beneficial effect on her eventing prowess. Tamzin continues to ride and teach at Pony Club as well as ski and sail (time permitting). Her skill base supports aspiring riders attain their personal goals.

Tamzin developed her interest in the development of chiropractic as a profession at the McTimoney Chiropractic College where she chaired the Student Representative Committee. At college she won awards for her academic achievements and from her fellow students. Tamzin has also served on the Executive Committee of the MCA, only stepping down on the birth of her daughter in September 2010.

Tamzins chiropractic experience continues to grow and she is building her paediatric skills for the very young, through attendance at seminars and hands-on guidance from Deirdre Edwards.
