Chiropractic

Initial Assessment Appointment

Chiropractic treatment involves safe, often gentle, specific movements, done by hand, (called adjustments) to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. Most often this requires a short thrust to a joint that can result in an audible ‘crack’ and may bring relief to symptoms as well as an increased feeling of well-being. The ‘crack’ is simply the sound of bubbles of gas popping in the fluid of the joint as the pressure is released.

Will it hurt?

Chiropractic adjustments are generally painless, however, if you are in a lot of pain, the movement involved can cause some discomfort. Your chiropractor will discuss what they are doing as they do it, and will ask for feedback from you. If something feels too painful, they will use a different technique to ensure your comfort at all times.

Dr Alex Firth

Job Title:
  Doctor
Biography:

Alex Firth, Doctor of Chiropractic, holds degrees in Chiropractic and Sports Science, majoring in Sports Psychology. He has always had a passion for sport and for caring for others. He has previously worked part-time in care homes and as a fitness instructor. He has had student representative honours in both rugby union and rugby league, as well as playing for, and training with, Sale Sharks and Salford City Reds academy sides.

After 7 years at University, Alex started his professional career in 2005. Alex is passionate about caring for people, and believes that finding the cause of the problem is key to being an effective Chiropractor. Alex has undergone continuing professional development since graduating to increase his repertoire of diagnostic and treatment techniques. He uses his knowledge and chiropractic skills to diagnose and correct postural problems that may cause acute or chronic pain. Postural changes can be caused by specific traumatic injury (e.g. a sporting injury) or repetitive strain and can then lead to further injuries if not addressed and managed correctly.

Alex is registered with all major health care insurers.
