Prof Oztekin Oto

Biography:

Prof. Dr. Öztekin is a renowned cardiovascular surgeon with expertise in coronary artery bypass graft surgery, minimally invasive heart valve surgeries, and pediatric cardiac treatments. He completed his medical education at Hacettepe University and specialized in cardiovascular surgery at Hacettepe University’s Chest and Cardiovascular Surgery Department.

In 1989, he became the founding chairman of the Cardiovascular Surgery Department at Dokuz Eylül University, where he pioneered pediatric and minimally invasive cardiac surgery, and performed Turkey’s first pediatric heart and lung transplant in 1998. He introduced minimally invasive adult cardiac surgery in 2000 and helped renew the university's Heart Transplant Center in 2009.

Prof. Dr. Öztekin served as President of the European Society of Cardiovascular Surgery from 2014 to 2016 and is currently the President of the Turkish Heart and Health Foundation. He continues to lead in the fields of heart transplants, vascular surgery, and minimally invasive cardiac procedures.
