Although I’m a late starter with a career (because I was never really sure of what I wanted to do and lacked in confidence) I just knew I wanted to work for myself. The first step was to go back to college, to do something I have an interest in and give my confidence a bit of a boost by meeting new people, not just college friends but clients too. I was worried about the course because I was a mature student, but I was never made to feel out of place at all. Within the first week of starting my course (NVQ Beauty Therapy Level 2) I knew it was definitely for me, I was annoyed with myself that I hadn’t done it years ago! While doing the course, I trained with Fake Bake, Angela Pumo Make-up Artist, Minx nails and Artistic Gel polish. I also attended a 2 day course in Leeds for MONU Training with a lovely lady named Sam. Opening my own salon has been a mix of excitement, nerves and stress but well worth it.
