About Unique Skin Clinics

Having suffered from severe hirsutism from the age of 16, I understood the devastating effect that excess hair can have on your confidence and self esteem. I was the patient the trainee Drs came to view; with long dark hair even on my fingers and toes. After 23 years of an hour per week of painful electrolysis on my face and neck, I still had a lot of the hair. It had also left me very badly scarred from inappropriate treatment.

So I decided to find alternative treatments to help myself, and ended up opening my own clinic in 1998 to help people 'like me'. I initially started with diathermy and galvanic electrolysis, but quickly moved into IPL & Laser. After treating myself with IPL for 12 months, for the 1st time since age 16, my body was free of the long dark excess hair. It was amazing to wake up every morning and NEVER think about my excess hair again. When previously, it was my 1st waking thought!

Unique offers specialist skin treatments for various levels of skin problems and damage by a qualified nurse.  Permanent hair reduction, tattoo, skin tag, milia, red vein removal, acne, scar, wrinkle, loose skin and pigmentation treatment.  Medical peels, IPL, Laser and medical product specialists.  Medical skin camouflage also available. Talks provided for business groups and charities.

Reiki treatments, meditation training and group meditation/healing is available at all locations below.

Currently providing services in Forres, Isle of Skye, Fort William, Poolewe, Thurso, Wick and the Orkney Isles. All treatment performed by a qualified nurse.  Established in 1998.

IPL Hair Removal

Treatment is using IPL (intense pulsed light). This is well tolerated and less uncomfortable than Laser. However, using a Zimmer freezer blower, your skin is kept cool during treatment.Sessions are 4-6 weekly on face and neck, and 6-8 weekly on the body. Having severe hirsutism myself from the age of 16, I removed all hair from my cheeks, chin, upper lip, neck, breasts, arms, fingers, underarms, bottom, legs, feet and toes 19 years ago. None of which has grown back. I am a walking advert for the success of this treatment!

Skin rejuvenation treatment for the production of collagen, for a more youthful and less wrinkled skin. Treatment is 2 weekly for 4-6 treatments. 1-2 sessions per year is recommended, if no other treatments are being used.

Tattoos are removed using a Lynton Q switched medical Laser. Treatments are spaced at least 8 weeks apart. This is to ensure that your body has removed all the ink that has been broken down by the Laser. Although the treatment can feel quite warm, I have a Zimmer freezer blower, which keeps the skin cool for your comfort. I have been removing tattoos for 15 years now.

I touch the skin tag with a cautery needle - I do not slice them off, like beauticians do. It will shrink and fall off in a few days - 2 weeks time (and generally looks black). It leaves no mark and doesn’t regrow in the same place. You may find them in your bed, as they drop off. Skin tags are a very common problem. I remove thousands of them each year, and have been doing so for 23 years now. Pre advice: Please ensure that clothing in the areas to be treated is loose, and not touching/chaffing the skin tags. A sleeveless T shirt is ideal. Joggers or loose trousers, and loose underwear if they are in the groin.  Two days prior to treatment, avoid wearing tight restrictive clothing, which is pulling or rubbing on the tags.  This will make them more sensitive to remove. You must not be sunburnt on the area to be treated.

Come and give your body and mind a treat, and tune out the world for an hour or so.Other techniques taught during your consultation, to help improve your health. I meditate for one hour+ each morning, and will send all reiki clients healing during this time. You also have the option to have your name added to a healing group list, so others around the world can send you healing.
